I just tried to upgrade my system from win7 Ultimate to win8 with the option to keep all my win7 settings, but it failed to complete the install. After starring at a blank screen save for the spinning dots for several hours, I was left with no alternative but to power off my Pc.
On restarting I was given the 3 options:
1) Load Win8
2) Windows recovery
3) Load Win7
I tried door number 1 first but again resulted in the same blank screen with spinning dots.
I didn't want to try the other 2 options without first getting the opinion of someone with more knowledge than me.
Do I try to recover win7, wipe the disc and start from scratch and lose all my previous settings or what?
Any help appreciated,
Mike
NB I have two PCs both of similar spec, on the first one the upgrade was no problem
