Got an Acer laptopV3-571 with Windows 8.I had trouble downloading Windows updates so I decided to do a factory reset through Acer recovery management. It seems very slow to do so compared to my Samsung laptop which took about 25 minutes to reset. It is at 10% after 50 minutes. Is this normal?

It's now at 28% after 2h 15 mins.Surely it shouldn't take as long as this.

It took 8 hours on my Acer AX mini desktop. Good thing I started it in the evening so I just left it overnight. But then I had a different issue afterwards which says "Reboot or select proper boot drive" which took me a while to figure out. If you encountered that problem after the recovery is done, message me.

And yup, I agree... before the Acer, I had the Lenovo Q190 which I exchanged for an Acer. Before I returned the Lenovo, I did a system recovery which only took between 10 and 15mins.

Sounds unreasonably slow. Rid yourself of it.

You should create a recovery media back up. According to Acer (I contacted them), it's faster to do recovery from media (USB Flashdrive) than from recovery partition.

Thought I would post this to help anyone else with an Acer laptop.I contacted Acer Support who have assured me that it can take up to 4 hours to do a factory restore on Acer laptops. The laptop is running great with no problems, unlike the Samsung laptop which it has replaced.
