Is it Possible to create a Windows 8 Disc?....

Hello,
I have a HP Envy DV6-7250CA laptop.
It comes with Windows 8 Home Ed. It also comes with preinstalled apps, etc. I create the HP Recovery discs.
But when I reinstall, it still has all the preloaded apps.

I was wondering, if is it possible to extract Windows 8 onto an ISO, and then with that disc, and my laptop windows 8 serial number, am i able to delete all the partitions, including hp recovery, etc, the uefi, etc. and start a complete clean and fresh install of windows 8 with no preloaded apps.

Thanks.

Not really. It may be possible - but would be complicated, and I would have to have the machine in front of me to work it out.

It is best for you to get a clean installation iso.

I am surprised HP supplied a key for 8. Normally it is in the bios on pre installed machines.

You could google for it

en_windows_8_x64_dvd_915440.iso

I am sure plenty of others want to do a clean install without oem crapware. You will still get the MS crapware even with a clean install iso. You can uninstall the useless stuff.

Oh sorry, i just looked on back of laptop, no sticker. I just assumed the product key was glued on the back of the laptop due to my older laptops have windows 7 stickers on the back with the key. My bad.
Thanks for the info.

That just shows me torrent results. I dont want any of that, I mean why would I? I just paid for windows 8, even though the computer company is cheap and didnt give me a physical copy of windows disc. I should be able to make my own from the copy of windows installed on my system. This should be obvious to the company that made this laptop, that I would want a fresh install of windows, without any preloaded apps that come with it. I mean how a company not consider my feelings, I bought a laptop, it came preinstalled with alot of crap that slows my computer down like crazy right from the box. I create my Recovery discs, and pop them in. And to my surprise, when I reinstalled, all the preloaded apps were still loaded back on, WHILE THERE WAS NO!! OPTION TO SAY "NO, I DO NOT WANT ANY PRELOADED APPS". So now I have to go and individually remove all the preloaded apps again, to get a clean, well somewhat clean copy of windows. Now say a little while later, my computer crashes or whatever, So now i have to go through that hole process again? Thats just ridiculous.
Am I missing something here?

That's as close as you are going to get with what you have on hand. There are no official download links for Windows 8 from Microsoft other than MSDN or TechNet, and you need a subscription for those. You will see ISO downloads on bit torrent advertised as untouched MSDN version etc. The only way to be sure is to check the MD5 hash after you download it against what Microsoft lists on TechNet. Or copy a disk from somebody you know that actually bought one.

NOTE:HP does not include recovery discs in the box with its personal computers as the recovery software comes on the hard drive. You can obtain recovery discs from HP Support or use Recovery Manager software to create a set of recovery discs yourself. HP recommends creating a set of recovery discs when you receive your computer and storing them in a safe place. Support Sent Recovery Discs can take as long as 4 to 6 hours to complete system recovery, but recovery discs that you create often take less time to complete system recovery. I understand your complaint. It's extremely rare these days for any of the manufacturers to send a reinstall DVD. Dell still does on their business machines, but it does cost an extra $2.30 (or something like that).

I should be able to make my own from the copy of windows installed on my system. This should be obvious to the company that made this laptop, that I would want a fresh install of windows, without any preloaded apps that come with it.
Well, the overwhelming majority of consumers would want the whole system put back just the way it was. Of course, enthusiasts are a whole different breed when it comes to this. The mfg makes the restore for the majority of users who aren't going to install from scratch, then install drivers, and then install apps, etc.

And to my surprise, when I reinstalled, all the preloaded apps were still loaded back on, WHILE THERE WAS NO!! OPTION TO SAY "NO, I DO NOT WANT ANY PRELOADED APPS".
I've never seen a company release a recovery image set that gave you an option. You have to remember that these companies have to support these machines. This of course means they want the OS installed "their way", so they have a reasonable expectation as to what "normally happens".

So now I have to go and individually remove all the preloaded apps again, to get a clean, well somewhat clean copy of windows. Now say a little while later, my computer crashes or whatever, So now i have to go through that hole process again? Thats just ridiculous.

What I would recommend would be
#1). Get it cleaned up, and exactly how you want. Make sure it's activated, and make sure you run Windows Update. Then use a software imaging program to catch an image exactly how you want it. Then, going forward, you simply restore this image and you get it right back to this exact point in time. There are free versions of the imaging apps (Macrium, EaseUs ToDoBackup, Aomei Data Backuper), and there are also paid for apps (Paragon, Acronis). I've had good luck with paid and free apps.

#2). Get it cleaned up, and exactly how you want. Then google for "Capture an image with imagex". This will give you a new install.wim file that you could use with an obtained copy of the install media to get it to "reinstall", but with all of the changes and mods you make

#1 by far is the easier method and the one that I would recommend. Having a DVD to install from is great, but after install, you still have to run updates, install 3rd party stuff, etc. With an image, you don't have to do all that over and over again.

Thank you everyone for your input and help, I managed to get the result I wanted without all the bloatware installed by selecting the recovery image - minimized system recovery option. I got windows 8, and all the drivers installed, without any additives.

Hello,
I have a HP Envy DV6-7250CA laptop.

Thanks.

Once you get an Win8 Core ISO or make one yourself, you reinstall it fresh but the key from HP can be reused. This way you don't get any preinstalled applications.

Thank you everyone for your input and help, I managed to get the result I wanted without all the bloatware installed by selecting the recovery image - minimized system recovery option. I got windows 8, and all the drivers installed, without any additives.

Man, I worked too much on this one!

Yes that right. I still have my Win7 machine where i had to perform the recovery once.
Then, you could select minimal recovery because you got some messages on screen. You boot with F11 and then it asks for disks if recovery partition is deleted (which it was ) but I got my disks ready.

The newer recovery from Win8 that I did was initiated from within Windows and using Refresh Mode and somehow I didn't see any messages about minimal. Next time I'll try from outside Windows (F11) again.

I did it from the Metro Start Screen Settings, somewhere between the options. Then it mentioned the refresh option and I chose it: it was using the HP recovery partition and I got all the programs from factory back which I didn't want.

I pressed F11 when computer turned on, and got the minimized system restore option. and it worked like a charm, no preloaded apps installed. i have a hp envy dv6-7250ca.... BUT now, the whole system is down after i tried to shrink the c partition and create another partition for my scratch disk. Now when I do a system restore of any types, it says failed when its almost finished. Ive tried the recovery disc, Ive tried f11, ive tried even a pirated version of windows 8. nothing nothing will install. But I managed to boot up into ubuntu disc right now on this laptop, that is how i am able to write this. So according to HP there is nothing that can be done, and they are sending me a fedex box to my door so i can ship this laptop off and they will fix it. This absolutely ridiculous. I remember whenever i had problems with any win7 or xp machines, just pop the disc in, restart, and reinstall c drive, while keep all data on d: parition. With UEFI makes so much difficult it seems.

Thats how I did it, "outside". Cause i wasnt seeing by doing it through windows.

Thanks.

Sorry to hear that.

Mine is dv6-7250eb... that must be almost the same as 7250ca. I'll try to be careful when reinstalling.

Right after I got on the desktop, there were still all the unneeded programs installed but I could shrink c drive from Computer Management without problems.

I had c: drive and d: was already assigned to recovery so I added f: as data and all worked.
This is also on UEFI and the good part is that you can make up to 128 partitions on the same disk (GPT disk).
In the past I also used a d: partition for data besides the c: which had the OS but now the new config works the same way.

Don't touch the first two small partitions beginning the disk (they don't have any letter assigned: sys reserved and uefi boot, about 200-300mb in size) otherwise you'll have problems booting and recovering.

As long as you don't disable it in the BIOS, UEFI works fine, I never had problems with it yet.
