    Upgrade or New Install

    Hi!

I'm very mucht interested in Win8 and hope I can make my home forum of this one shortly...

    My question:

Will it be possible to upgrade from windows 7 or do you have to install a new version?

    Grtz,

    Martin

Hello Martin, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Yes, you will be able to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8.

Personally though, I prefer to do a clean install to avoid any potential unknown issue related with a upgrade.

But I'm going to do a clean install of my Seven now... I'm not going to reinstall all my programs again and I don't want to wait for Win8 to come out!

If you don't want to reinstall any of your programs, then, do a install upgrade, that will keep all your settings.

Only a fresh install is possible at this time. (Developer Preview Build) Of course when it RTM's a year from now, upgrade from Win7will be an option

Only on the build with all the dev tools, the standard x86 and x64 iso's upgrade fine.

Yes, there ware three ISO's released - one was an x64 build with all the dev tool included and this did not allow upgrade, the other two were standard x86 and x64 builds and this do allow upgrade.
