I recently had a new hdd fitted to my laptop.I tried to do a refresh but I got the message:
Insert media. Some files are missing.Your Windows Installation or recovery media will provide these files.
I got the same message when I tried to do a reset.I did a factory restore by pressing f4 on starting up,But I still get the same message on refresh and reset. The laptop came with Windows 8 preinstalled so I do not have any discs.
The old hdd just showed a C drive but the new hdd shows a C and a E drive.I did a backup on an ext.hdd on my original hdd.My question is can I restore this to my new hdd even though there is a C drive and a E drive.Grateful for any help .

Dealing with Win8 OEM preinstalled/new disks, etc. can be a pain. Some here will be able to advise on this matter better than me. In the interim, I say contact your OEM support, etc., at least if the contact would be free. You also, might look on your OEM's website for help, including a support forum.

Good luck. Sorry I am not more familiar with Win8 OEM preinstalled, etc.

You are very welcome. This thread does not exactly deal with your issue, AFAIK, but you might as well check it out. It'll give you something to do while waiting.

Thanks for the reply.I contacted Samsung and their customer service dept. said they do not do refunds or replacements. They said my dispute was with my retailer (Currys) and you probably know what they're like.I am going to take the laptop to curry's tomorrow but I don't hold out much hope for a refund or replacement.

If still in warranty, someone should fix it, refund it, or replace it. Hope it goes ok.

Under UK law, Samsung are right, first call is with the Retailer, in your case Currys, PC World, to refund or replace.
