Solved How to replace Win 8 Pro 64-bit with Win 8 Pro 32-bit?

When I installed Win 8 Pro on an old laptop with Win 7 32-bit (dual boot configuration), I do not remember seeing an option for installing either the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows 8. My System shows I have 64-bit and I am having trouble locating video drivers for my 6 year old Toshiba Satellite laptop. I found people with a similar problem on an NVidia forum and they put together a 32-bit driver version that supposedly works. I did not mean to install the 64-bit version. Is there a way to do a reinstall, but this time select Win 8 32-bit? Is there an option for it If I just do a clean reinstall?

Hello Stan, and welcome to Eight Forums.

The installation of either a 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 8 is dependent on if the installation media is 32-bit or 64-bit.

If you like, you can use the tutorial below to download a 32-bit Windows 8 ISO file from within any 32-bit Windows computer that you can use to create a bootable installation DVD or USB with.

Hope this helps, :)

Thanks. The Microsoft link I was provided when I ordered Windows 8 does not give an option for creating a 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 8. It automatically selects the type used on the current machine and since I downloaded and created an ISO file on my 64-bit Windows 7, it downloaded a Windows 8 64-bit which is not what I wanted because I was installing it on a laptop that had 32-bit Windows 7.
I first uninstalled my Windows 8 64-bit from my laptop, which was in dual-boot mode, using these instruction: How to Uninstall Windows 8 From a Dual-Booting PC
Then I went to my 32-bit Win 7 laptop and re-downloaded and created a Win 8 ISO, this time it downloaded Win 8 32-bit. I reinstalled this Win 8 in dual-boot configuration again and everything was fine.
