    Uninstalling win8

three weeks ago my hp/win7 laptop died and I bougth a new sony/win8 one. I chose this one also to try the new OS, but I encountered several problems, such as two crash (with data loss) in three weeks and, most importantly, the impossibility to install two important apps I use for work.
So, unfortunately, I'm now forced to reinstall win7, and here I found the majority of my problems: I followed all the tutorial of this and seven forums but I always encountered problem in the clean installation of windows 7.

I tried several 64 bit .iso files but the installation stops at the first black screen with "starting windows" and the logo.

When trying a 32 bit version instead of a 64x one the installation starts, but I cannot proceed beyond the selection of the partition to install the new OS because (of course) a 32bit version is not accepted to be installed in a gtp formatted partition as the one where windows8 is now installed.

Can anyone help me with this issue?

    Thanks in advance!

of course I disabled the secure boot option, tried booting from both usb and dvd, changed .iso file several times, modified the folders as described here UEFI Bootable USB Flash Drive - Create in Windows (step 11) etc... the only think I didn't try (at least between the ones that came in my mind) is to convert the gtp partition to ntfs to install a 32bit version. This because I'd like to install a 64x one to maintain the advantages of the uefi firmware (and to miantain a bit of honour). Thanks again!

of course I can't simply downgrade because I do not have the windows8 Pro version..

    Welcome to EightForums

    To Downgrade to Windows 7.
Downgrade Windows 8 to Windows 7
Warning you must have the uEFI/BIOS firmware setting in Step Three set.

Also you need to boot the DVD in uEFI mode.

Where do you buy your Windows 7 product key & DVD from?

thanks for the quick reply, I already had a look to that tutorial but I'll double check.

I've a cd we bought for the home pc for installation, and a couple of .iso files. I'll wait to have a working installed win7 to buy the second product key, I'd like to avoid to waste money if I do not succeed :P

Just so you know ... Win7 installation is way too big to fit on a CD, so unless you meant "optical disk" and only said "CD" and this really is a DVD, it might not actually be an installation DVD. You need to make sure it's not just a "Recovery CD", as those generally only let you make repairs, they don't contain the full set of installation files.
