Hi there
Anybody fixed the problem of no video display in a browser for W2012 server yet. (W2012 server is the server equivalent for W8).

Normally on a server accessing Video on the net isn't usually a big deal but these days as more and more people display answers to technical problems or post instructions via things like YOUTUBE the lack of video when you need to look something up when you are working on a server becomes more of a problem.

I'm old school = I much prefer a decent TEXT explanation with appropriate diagrams or power point presentation -- which I can peruse at my leisure -- I find using following video demos on YOUTUBE or anywhere else much harder - especially if you need to go back and look at some points over again in order to understand a later part of the tutorial -- but I suppose it's the modern way and we have to get used to it.

So if you've got W2012 server working with video in a browser please post what you did or the fix.

Sound / audio commentary works fine in W2012 server (that was (and still is) a problem in W2008 server !! so it appears you can either have sound OR video but not both. !!

Cheers

I'm almost never surfing the web from a server nor watching video. I'm always at my workstation and RDP'd into the server. So, unfortunately I haven't attempted to find or fix this issue.

Hi there
Thanks.
Probably that's the best way -- RDP into the server and then use the video from the client computer in a windowed session

(Can work the other way round also --RDP to a client (remote) computer if I'm physically working on the server such as messing around with its hardware (Disks particularly) and it's separate from client machines -- It's not a big deal but just for completeness it would be nice to have it fixed).

Other than that W2012 server seems fine --although whoever had the idea of adding the METRO interface to a server stark raving Bonkers: -- you can run w2012 in cmdline or a minimal GUI so you don't even need to see the Metro stuff -- but on a SERVER ????.

Cheers
