Cant install Windows 8 - Says it needs 2gb - I have 8gb

Hi. I have Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate installed and activated. I am trying to upgrade to Windows 8 and the upgrade assistant tells me it needs at least 2gb when I have 8gb and Windows 7 sees and knows I have 8gb

I am thinking it could be my bios, but it's already at the latest version

Try removing 2gb or 4gb of ram & re-run upgrade assistant.

I tried that. I took out a 4gb stick and then it still gave me the error. So I tried taking out the other one and putting the other back in and it still gave me the error

are you sure win7 is seeing all 8 gig of memory

Yes I am positive. It sees it. It shows 7.87gb, and the monitor program for looking at ram shows it too.

are you sure it not meaning 2gi of memory storage space , how much free hdd space is on the win7 drive

Yes, I'm sure it says ram. I have 80gb SSD and most of it is free.
