There are some good dual boot instructions in the tutorial section of SF. Just remember to back up your main install just so if something goes wrong all will not be lost

The dual boot is a bit of a pain in the neck. But if you have the 100MB active partition (which contains the bootmgr), image that before you install another OS. The day you want to get rid of the other OS, you just restore the 100MB partition from that image and delete or clear (e.g. reformat) the partition of that other OS. Else you have to fix your bootmgr jumping thru all kinds of hops.

Installing Win8 should not be a problem. Just make sure you have a primary partition (NOT active) to which you install. It will update your bootmgr to reflect this added OS.

Very good you have it installed. You could look at this SF tutorial to see if you are able to change your default OS back to Win7. Default Operating System - Change Default Boot OS - Windows 7 Forums
I use a free program called Easy BCD. If you want to download it you can find the link here FREE Great Programs for Windows 7 - Windows 7 Forums
