Old Microsoft Account - linked to email no longer used

I just installed Windows 8 on my laptop to try it out. During the setup process I was asked to enter my Microsoft account details and as I do have files stored on Sky Drive I put in the same details. The problem is that the account I seem to have created refers to an old Hotmail address that I no longer use so all the contact links for example are very outdated. I see that it's not possible to change the email address on your Microsoft account.
Should I re-install W8 and set up a new Microsoft account, which means presumably no access to my Sky Drive files from that machine; or perhaps move all the files out (long process!). Or any better ideas?
I'm already not liking the way MS is trying to make me link into all its own stuff BTW, like Bing!

Thanks for your reply. As I am an impatient soul I have re-installed W8 and created a new account. The stuff I had in the old sky drive I have elsewhere anyway. However I'm certainly going to take a look at those tutorials... I', sure it said I could'nt change the email address but I see the first tutorial listed says different, so I'll look again.
