Can i clean install win8 pro on my w7 ssd on new mobo

I am getting the asus m5a97 le r2 next week. I plan to place my windows 7 ultimate 64 bit ssd on the new mobo and after updates of bios and stuff I clean install windows 8 64 bit pro on the ssd in new mobo.

what licensing issues will I face as the new mobo makes it a new pc with the ssd that has has a cloned version of my hdd win 7?

I want to do a clean install to fix a disk boot error I get every nw and then.

the mobo has 6gbps connection and new uefi bios system and I am just future proofing for the next 4 to 6 years. I am not a gamer. just want a fast responsive system for editing photos and videos for my family and to write as many screenplays as possible. when I get the chance lol.

much appreciated in anticipation of your help boys and girls.

    Welcome to EightForums.

    The asus m5a97 le r2 has a uEFI/BIOS firmware.
Your old Windows 7 install will not boot on the MOBO.

You need to do a clean install,
As the new MOBO's now have a uEFI BIOS.
How to install Windows 64 bit on a uEFI BIOS:
