There is an app here that, when opened, causes all AutoPlay optical media settings to revert to "Take No Action."

Is there an AutoPlay setting that can thwart this, in the same manner that a file can be set to READ ONLY?

Good info there, but my intent is not to disable or assign AutoPlay events, which is the focus of the article.

I want to set WMPlayer as the CD default, and prevent another application from changing that entry to "Take No Action." Thanks.

Unfortunately, no. The CDA association remains pointed to WMP when the other program is launched, but AutoPlay does not.

Let's approach this from a different direction...

An earlier query yielded no suggestions on how to prevent autoplay settings from being wiped out by an application. Launch that app and all AP settings revert to "take no action."

Perhaps someone knows what file, if any, holds the settings? More likely in the registry...
