I decided to pay and upgrade my laptop to Win 8 last night having done my desktop a while ago. Its a Dell Vostro 1500 and I've put the 64 bit version on it.

I created the quick launch bar as I've done a number of times before but this time it was full of folders. (my documents, my pictures, my music etc) Not wanting the folders I tried to delete them and to my alarm the computer started deleting them off the system, ie: it started deleting my documents. I deleted others, for instance, desktop folder, and things started to go peculiar - so I created a new user and deleted the old one.

With the new user I got exactly the same problem - I can't get rid of these folders from quick launch. I compared the contents of C:\Users\(user-name)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch with my desktop and they are the same - but the desktop does not have the problem.

Only other info I can think of is I have Classic Shell 3.6.3 installed on both (though the desktop has been updated from 3.6.2 and the laptop went straight to 3.6.3.

Any help gratefully received.

Edit:
SOLVED
Turns out I had not created the Quick Launch bar but had somehow created a folder bar for the user. (strange that this should happen twice following the instructions, but anyway).
Navigated to the actual 'quick launch' folder instead of pasting the end of the address and ok.
