I have a similar situation, I got Win 8 as a gift from my kids and was hesitant to use it so decided to install it on a VHD to test Now I think I should upgrade to Win 8 before MS forces me to do it, but there is a lot I already done on Win 8 and it will be a massive job to try and move all this to a new installation. Searching the web the closest I could find is in this link How to Convert a Microsoft Virtual Machine to a Physical Machine | eHow
but as you can see it is a complicated process and I am not qualified to do it. I'm still looking for an easier way even through a third party software that I can purchase. Or if we got some luck maybe one of the professionals in this forum will give us a simpler solution.

I found two programs that could do this trick easy without the complication in the link I mentioned earlier. Acronis True Image 2014 Premium for $ 79.99 and Macrium Reflect for $ 44.99, I think it is a money well spent because I'll keep on using this after I finish the restore task for good purpose. Both with a few mouse clicks will create a backup of VHD drive that can be restored to a physical HDD. I'll make a purchase of Macrium Reflect and try this over the week end and post the result.

Hope this will help.
