Solved Windows 8 - Driver update failure - Inaccessible boot

Dear forumreaders,

Thanks for reading my post.

After a whole weekend of searching, trying different options... I don't know what to do anymore.

After installing windows 8, which worked fine, my desktop suddenly freezes at any given time.
Reboot is the only option. (I boot in AHCI for what it is worth).

I've tried installing in IDE mode, same result.

We've come up with the option that it is the drivers.
Allright, I update my driver of my motherboard to windows 8 x64 version (Motherboard is ASrock B75 Pro3).
When I do this, in IDE or in AHCI, at reboot it crashes giving the failure INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE.

I'm getting nuts... how to fix this?
Has it to do with registery settings? Other boot options in BIOS?

Many thanks,

Ruud Sjoukes

I'm installing from an ISO file on DVD.

I can try in uEFI mode if it has any advantage? Will take me some time of course.

When do reinstall clean your HD Drive first.

Clean the HD Drive, using Step one in this tutorial:
SSD / HDD : Optimize for Windows Reinstallation - Windows 7 Forums
Than type> convent gpt
& than Reboot PC to install.

Well it did not work..
I have tried all and done it a second time for confirmation. At the second time it even froze at the Microsoft login screen.

A thing I noticed was: when I set my bios to startup from ahci again (was windows boot) and rebooted, it does do nothing more than giving me a black screen with a blinking underscore. Is this normal? I did set back bios afterwards and it starts up fine but the freeze problem remains with no driver update install able ...

Getting quite desperate right now..
If anybody has an idea what it could be, information I should give or whatever let me know!

Well just to mark this as solved:

I found what the problem was. I have a wireless network card from TP Link in my desktop.
Once I removed this card and installed the OS it worked perfect! The TP Link card caused all the trouble, even the drivers all work now (although for my motherboard I choose for intel sata port instead of asrock media since their driver is not up to date yet but will be).

Kind regards
