Just got a laptop with Windows 8. When I went through setup, I went ahead and entered a Hotmail address to sign in with that. Now, I regret doing so and want to get rid of it and not have to use an account or password to get onto my computer. There are a few reasons I want to stop having to sign in using an account, and none of the advantages are of interest to me (the syncing, etc).

I searched around Windows Help and googled for answers of how to get rid of the need to sign in with an account and just be able to turn the dang computer on, but came up empty. Would sure appreciate knowing how.

Thanks so much for help! :)

Found the solution in another post so am putting it here in case anyone else has the same question. Sorry--I did search before posting but didn't find this until afterward. Turns out the solution is pretty simple: click on the "Settings" charm on the right-hand row of charms (the bottom one) then click on the "Change PC Settings" and choose Users. Then just click on "Switch to Local User Account"

The link below clearly shows how....
