Okay so I hope that I dont sound stupid.
So I picked up Windows 8 today because it was on sale and very cheap, coming home to find out the disc wont load at all. So I figured out I dont have enough RAM. So I am planning on heading out to Bestbuy tomorrow to pick up a G or 2. Will this solve the problem of the disc not loading? I put the disc in and nothing happened.

Hello there!

I can't think of a reason why RAM would affect a DVD from booting. Is it just not booting from the DVD?

Have you set the boot menu to start off of the DVD drive first? If your PC is set to boot from the hard drive, it won't run the DVD.

Just to make sure, your disk drive reads DVDs yes?

Is it a DVD drive you are putting the disk into?? If not, that's your problem, a regular CD-RW reader/writer drive won't work.

When you go into "My Computer", does a Microsoft icon show up instead of the drive letter and the description of the drive (eg. D: DVD-RW)

You should be able to open it up and check for the setup.exe file. You might have a defective disk.

They are cheap - > $100. Is this a desktop or laptop computer? How old is it?

When you go into the boot menu, do you see an option to boot from a USB device? If so, if you have family/friends that have a DVD-RW drive, you can copy the install DVD to a USB flash drive. Saves having to shell out for a DVD drive.

Just make sure the USB flash drive is a minimum of 4 GB - they are cheap too.

I would recommend using a USB drive, if your PC can do USB boot which I bet it would. That's probably the best way. A DVD drive for a desktop generally runs about 20 dollars and up.
