Greetings all,
I have been doing alot of research on this forum the last couple of months and it has come in very handy as i get used to Windows 8 - which i might add, it's beginning to 'grow' on me.
My first installation on my 2009 Compaq Presario Duo-Core rig went beautifully - no problems whatsoever.
So, i thought, what the heck, let's see what happens when i run the Upgrade Assistant on my 2005 Dell Latitude D510. Assistant didn't seem to give any impression that my system was incompatible with Win8, so i went ahead and bought another copy to install.
Problem is, it went through the download, then the verification of the download and gave me an 'access denied' error. I tried it again with the same result. Next i tried the link from the invoice that said if you need to download Windows 8, click here. So i did. Long story short, it downloaded, verified OK then left me two options: Install Now or Install Later from Desktop. Hmmm...where's the option to created the DVD??? This was last night, it was late so i left it to today to install. Everything went well and my laptop, which was running WinXP Pro is now running Win8.
But...i'm still left in the dark as to how to get the .iso file to create a disk should i ever need it again. I need you gent/ladies to help me find it either on my hard drive somewhere (not in download file) The installer did not ask me for my key and there was a Windows.old file which i tried to delete, most of which i was successful but there are still some files that remain (about 10 MB worth) that i couldn't erase. Seen Shawn's instructions on how to delete and will try it. I am assuming it contained my WinXP install.
But, i digress, where is the .iso file???
Thanks for reading and any responses are greatly appreciated...it has me stumped!
