You will need to reformat the C: drive (or anywhere windows 8 is installed) and install new copy of windows 7 on that partition.

Which version of Windows 8 have you got already?? If RP (had a key) you can install the Win8 Pro directly. Done it on my laptop.

Else - do as Mr Showdown says!

I do have a legal copy of Win7 on my computer since it came with it. I'm running Windows 8 Enterprise. I received an email saying that if I wanted to upgrade then I would have to remove Win8 first. That's why I thought I had to do that and then install Win7 back. theog, thanks for the link. I am checking that out to.

I managed to (clean) install, and activate, the Win8 Pro upgrade over the Win8 Enterprise evaluation version. The Upgrade Assistant wouldn't let me purchase it from that machine, so I bought it from another PC. (I did the actual download on the Win8 PC.) Saved me from re-installing Win7 on the Win8 PC, which is the officially supported way to upgrade.

From my point of view, it's too bad that MS made the $40 upgrade deal available only through using the Upgrade Assistant. I would have preferred to buy and download the .iso directly from the Microsoft Store, like the $50 Win7 upgrade deal (from the summer of 2009).

Ah okay. Thank you so much. One more question, I don't know if you all will know this but can you disable the mouse pad from the laptop in Win8. It will not let me.
