Hey there, i have been trying to install Windows 8 Pro that i got from from Dreamspark on my ASUS G51J, the installation boot hangs for a very long time (about 20min) on a purple screen after the windows 8 splash logo, then (finally) the language prompt appears and when i click install now it hangs for about another hour on "Setup is being initialized."... if i wait it will say it installed but the windows 8 will not boot (hangs on splash screen). Tried to boot the same installation on a friend's computer (with the same CPU) and it booted fine, with no hangs or delays. IDK what is happening. Please help, i need my computer. lol

Strangest thing is that I had win8 consumer Preview on this pc and it installed and ran just fine. Windows 7 installation also installs and runs fine...

I don't have consumer Preview anymore. I'm on win7 and I want to do a clean install.

Try the upgrade selecting the option keep nothing, it's as good as a clean install but will be left with windows.old folder & $windows.~BT folder, keep them if you want or delete them when you feel you don't need them.

But I don't want it to delete my other drive, only the C. That's why I wanted to install it thru the boot. To choose which partition to format and which to keep. I really can't figure out why this is happening, tried with a USB stick, with a cd... The same usb stick on my friends computer worked flawlessly

If you have windows 7 in C drive, when you upgrade, it will upgrade only that drive, it won't remove anything from another partition. However, it is always a good practice to back up important materials on an external device.

Looking on the ASUS web site, there are no Windows 8 drivers for the ASUS G51J-3D .
