Restore Previous o/s from Windows.old

Has anybody got this to work yet?

I had a couple of goes - couldn't get it to work.

Perhaps that is another thing we are not allowed to do any more.

If anyone figures it out - would be glad to hear it.

Using previous o/s install disk is cheating.

you need to use a software like todo to copy the Windows.old to a usb stick or an external HD , it will keep your folder permission

Yeah - I have paragon HDM. And Todo and Macrium - and a couple of others.

I expect you could format the win 8 partition - what next?

Just copying the directories out of the backup image from windows.old - not sure that will work.

Will give it try.

UH OH. Windows.old users\username directory contains only only AppData - the rest are missing.

Will copy them back from win8 user\username before making image. Lot of crap in there no one wants like the apps and winx junk.

UH OH 4 boot critical drivers missing - will copy them back too.
