windows 8 install problems

I'm running windows 7 Home Premium and trying to upgrade to window 8 pro 32 bit. It gets to 90% and stops sending me a message that says windows 8 did not install reverting back to windows seven....what is the problem and how can I fix it.

I've run through the upgrade assistant and it found no problems.

You might call/email microsoft. They had a big Service Pack that did that to many users a few years ago. You might try stopping your antivirus software. You might also try installing in Safe mode but I don't know if it will install.

Try redownloading from the email link.

Than make the ISO, & burn to DVD or USB pendrive.

Try a upgrade install from the DVD:

If I were you, I would make a backup image of win7 partition ( and the separate system partition , if you have one ).

Something like the free macrium or paragon will be fine.

Then use the win 8 upgrade assistant to make an iso - burn it to dvd - boot it and install that way.

Very likely that will work fine.

If you want to go back to 7 - you have the image there - can use it anytime.

I totally removed my antivirus software so that shouldn't be an issue havent tried safe mode so will try that next...also tried downloading from url location that also didn't work

ok so I tried doing it from safe mode and it doesn't allow it. It tells me I have to start in normal mode. Tried running it again and it gets 100% complete with Getting Devices Ready than it goes to Getting Ready and it gets to 93% and stops. It say's your PC ran into a problem but doesn't say what and than it reverts back to windows 7. Help!

Hi I have Win 8 on my desktop (self installed as upgrade with no problems - very easy) and recently set out to upgrade my laptop - its an HP Pavillion DV6 with an AMD A8-3530MX APU with Radeon HD 6620G Graphics, 8GB RAM and a 750 GB HDD with 566GB free. (Poor choice i know but we all make mistakes....)
Install goes fine until well into process (2 or 3 reboots) when it hangs at 93% installed, have left it overnight and it stays exactly the same. If i then reboot it says my PC ran into a problem but doesn't say what and than it reverts back to windows 7. exactly the same as above.
I'm hoping kajophn59 managed to resolve his(?) problem and will let me into the secret, HELP!
