Graphics card causes install to fail

Hi all,

I'm guessing that others are having the same problem.

I have Nvidia GTX460 1gb, when trying to install im faced with a corrupt/pixallated windows screen. You can still fudge your way through and select the right things, install continues and then at the end gets rolled back because a problem has been encounted.

I changed the card to my friends ATI card and install was perfect.

Put my card back in, and back to it being corrupt.

Now the card passed the tests as being compatable.

Anybody been able to fix this problem without having to buy a new card?

I am sorry but I got a bit confused about your problem. Do can not install Windows 8 with your NVidia graphics card because installation fails? Or you can not install your graphics card drivers because it fails and gets reverted back?

Can you please specify for others that come along.
You said you borrowed you friends AMD card, is there a way you can test your card in a different OS or computer to make sure it still functions? After completing this step we can rule our Hardware failure on graphics.

Someone else will have to continue helping you after me, I need to sleep, sorry :( Windows 8 community is not as big as Windows 7 community yet.

Hi Chris, thanks for the reply.

Im on windows 7 atm, and i cannot install win 8 due to the graphics card - screen corrupt, then eventially rolls back to windows 7.

My card works fine in xp and my current setup of windows 7 with no issues at all.

I have updated bios, installed all the latest updates/drivers on my windows 7 install before starting the win8 upgrade.

I have also tried to do a clean install of win8 but have the same screen corruption issue.

When using a friends AMD card, there was no corruption and the install went perfectly and works fine, put my nvidia back in, and the screen is corrupt and fails to load win8.

Hope all that makes sense.

I read somewhere that if you install the 32 bit version, it won't run into problems with the gfx. I had the CP version, 32 bit, and it worked just fine. When the official version got out, I grabbed the 64 bit one. It has the same issue as yours. I'm back to Win7 64 bit for the moment.
