So... I bought my windows 8 pro cd and tried to install it on my laptop computer.
I installed it with Win7 running and it started installing, but it got stucked at 35%
I tried updating the BIOS, installing with a USB Drive and everything, but still stucked.
If I try to install it from boot, it says to me that I tried to upgrade and that I need to reboot to Windows and try it from there, but I'm still stucked after that.
I'm installing so I can keep my data, I don't want to try a clean install since I have work software that can be a mess to reinstall.
Any ideas? Thanks for reading and helping :)

Hi FDDT, welcome to the forums, what security you currently have in your laptop, if it's a third party, uninstall it and try your upgrade.

Thanks to you all, I disabled my AVG before upgrading and also tried running a clean boot to see if I was having a software issue but that's not the case. I'm burning a dvd with the "Windows 7/8 download tool" and see if that works.
I'll try it out and tell you, thanks for the help! :)

Have you tried to disable/unisntall your Microsoft Firewall, 3rd Party Firewall, if any (Microsoft Essential), Norton Anti-virus, Mcaffee Anti-virus, AVG Anti-virus or other installed anti-virus? After disable/uninstall restart your computer and try to install WINDOWS 8 again.

If still doesn't work try to reset your (Internet Explorer). :orb:

[h=2]How to reset Internet Explorer[/h]
  • Click on Tools > Internet Options.
  • Go to the Advanced tab
  • Click on the Reset button.
  • Then restart your computer.

Well, that's not the worsest recommendation. As a MS Answers community mod I came yesterday across a thread, where a users found his issue with my help. It seems that some upgrades are ending with an undefined path to IE temporary folder - so Downloads in IE, Metro Apps, Access to store and other things are not working. After defining the IE temporary folder path, everything went fine.

Maybe it's the explanation, why resetting the IE is helpful.

Well my friend was trying to download Win8 using IE. When he tried to install he also got stuck. He tried to reset his IE then tried to download it again then restart the Computer. The downloaded EXE works well. So that's the reason i posted it...

Thanks again for your help! I tried to install my copy of Windows 8 just to find the same luck. Tried resetting my IE to defaults and uninstalled my avg, my luck is the same. I can't exactly interpretate what the logs mean, but it doesn't seem to show an error or a failure at the operation.
I'd like to try to upgrade my windows from boot, but whenever I try with (either my original dvd, a burned dvd and an usb) I get the same response: I started an update and I need to continue it from the OS. Is there a way that I could just revert those changes and try to install it again from boot? Thanks guys!! You're really helpful :)

Turns out I had a virus who was keeping windows from doing almost everything (downloading updates, updating from a cd, updating my antivirus) as many other things. I realised when I couldn't go into some of the microsoft pages. Now I'm running and rocking WIn 8, thanks guys!!
