I currently have Win 7 installed on my 128GB SSD drive and Win 8 installed on a 80GB SATA partition. I also have the System Reserved partition.

What I want to do is clone Win 8 from the 80GB SATA drive to the 128GB SSD drive replacing Win 7. Since the boot files are in the System Reserved partition, I don't think I have to do anything else or at most I may have to run Startup Repair a few times, right?

Here is a shot of Disk Management:

I was successful doing this, just not quite as I had expected.

Acronis would not let me clone a partition (one of 4 on Disk 2 as shown above) to the SSD. I had to backup Win 8 then restore it to the SSD. Took a few tries as I picked the wrong drive the first time somehow and had to restore everything back to normal then do it again, only more carefully.

On reboot, Win 8 came up booting from the SSD perfectly. No Startup Repair was needed.

I used Easus Todo Backup Free to clone my 250 hard disk to the new ssd in my laptop. Worked a treat.
