Hi,

I am new to this forum, your advice is requested.

Recently I just upgraded to Windows 8 Pro over my Windows 7 Pro on my really old machine 1.6G Centrino, the hard drive is only 40G, the overall installation went through without any problems.

I found Windows 8 Pro provides better memory and disk management over the 7 and also I find Google Chrome works much faster. Overall I found the upgrade worthwhile.

Because I have a small hard drive, I need to recover more disk space, My questions are:

1. The old file Windows.Old, can I remove this file, it occupies about 2.9G
2. After installation it also generates this file, $Windows.~BT, can this be removed without causing problems.

Your advice please.

Welcome aboard, Ttan. First, open the windows.old folder to see if there's anything you need. You can then safely delete it. This was a difficult task with the Preview Edition, but I did it easily with the tutorial.

Hi,

Thanks for the response.

After writing my thread I found a solution,

I logged into desktop and and right hand click the C: drive and then clean hard drive using window 8 pro OS, the the 2 files I mentioned above were deleted. This method is safer.
