I have had trouble attempting to install Windows 8 on a computer I recently purchased. It had Ubuntu installed on it, and when I tried to install Windows 8, it would give me the error message "could not create new partition or locate existing one". I followed a few different solutions, but in the end ended up running Darik's Boot and Nuke to get rid of Ubuntu and any other OS's installed on the computer, which is the way I preferred it anyways.

So now when I am attempting to install Wiindows 8, I can choose one of the disk partitions successfully, and the installation process begins with the screen showing the percentage progress for each portion of the installation, but after a few minutes, with the percentage staying at 0 for the first step, an error message pops up with the error number 0x8004245F. I'm attempting to use the diskpart method of preparing the partition, but now I am also having an issue with Diskpart where after I type it into the command line to run it, it simply shows the copyright information and does not allow anymore input.

Right now I cannot get Diskpart to run correctly, as as soon as I try to run it, the copyright information shows up and no more input is allowed. In addition, the Microsoft Installation is stuck at the "Setup is starting" screen, which seems to happen each time after a couple of times of trying to install the damn thing and failing.

EDIT: I should probably mention that the computer has two harddrives: one is 160GB, and is in the first disk drive, and the other is 750GB, in the second drive. Right now I am attempting to install while the 750GB harddrive is now in the first disk drive and the other 160GB hdd is removed from the computer and set aside.

the Microsoft Installation is stuck at the "Setup is starting" screen,

Did you download your DVD? If yes.
Try redownloading.

I really feel like an idiot right now, and I apologize for troubling you. I was able to install successfully after removing the 160gb hdd from the first disk drive and inserting the 750gb hdd into the first disk drive instead, while leaving the 160 gb hdd out. I have successfully installed Windows 8 on that hdd, so now i just have to reset the BIOS settings for boot startup and try to boot the os with both hdds in.
