Can my Windows 8 Pro System Builder be installed on multiple computers

In looking at the personal use agreement of the Windows 8 Pro System Builder it states:

"The software in the package not be used:

To license more than five copies of the software (in total) for commercial use"

Does this mean I can install Windows 8 on another computer per the license for Win 8 Pro? My Windows 7 Home Premium was so much easier on this since it clearly stated that it supports 3x licenses.

thanks!

No, you cannot use the same license on more than 1 computer at any given time.

That seems to indicate that you cannot purchase parts to build 6 computer at work, and buy more than 5 System Builder license keys and install them.

How can I use the software? We do not sell our software or your copy of it – we only license it. Under our license, we grant you the right to install and run that one copy on one computer (the licensed computer) as the operating system on a computer that you build for your personal use, or as an additional operating system running on a local virtual machine or a separate partition, subject to the restrictions outlined under “Are there things I’m not allowed to do with the software?” The license is only for use by one person at a time, and only if you comply with all the terms of this agreement. The software is not licensed to be used as server software or for commercial hosting - so you may not make the software available for simultaneous use by multiple users over a network. For more information on multiple user scenarios and virtualization, see the Additional Terms.

Very good then that answers my question. I wish Microsoft would have done the Family Pack that they did in Windows 7 with Windows 8.

If Windows Pro 8 was installed on another computer does the license get transferred then from the previous computer it was activated?

The family pack was 50 a copy, Windows 8 is 40 a copy. How much cheaper would you want them to make it?

Seriously?

The Windows 7 Home Premium family pack provided 3 additional licenses which originally cost me $77

If I buy the Windows 8 upgrade (and it does not include the content that Pro does) for 3 licenses then I am going to have to pay $120 so where is the savings?

I don't recall the family pack being less than 150 for the 3 pack.

Hi Area 66,

Yeah that is the same URL that I purchased Win8 Pro from Amazon as well. But within the packaging it indicates that Windows 8 may not be used to license more than 5......

Please see attached.

Thank you

The Oem, personal use license is not intended to be purchased and installed by the end user to support machines in a business environment. You can however install a dozen copies at home of you wish to do so for all of your personal use.

"You can however install a dozen copies at home of you wish to do so for all of your personal use."

Appreciate your patience and just want to make sure I understood correctly. Per my license I can install Windows 8 Pro using the same license on multiple PCs?" Or did I read this incorrectly?

You read it wrong. It is one license power computer, just as it always has been. If you want a dozen copies at home, you have to buy a dozen licenses.

You can also buy 5 copies for commercial use, but any more than this and you have to move to volume licenses or buy your systems via an authorized oem vendor.

I surprised that it says customer support is not offered for this product.
Only time when a OEM will need MS's support to get it activated after some changes and i'll be batsh*t pissed if they don't offer that support.
MS does a good job of contradicting themselves as always.

--edit--
More on the "not more than five copies" from MS
If you are using the software as an operating system for commercial use, you may not license more than five copies of the software for such commercial use in total (and each copy of the software must be separately licensed).

Part of support is when you need help, activation is not a request for help, the OEM is supposed to be sold with a complete new system, so it's to the manufacturer to give the support according to the Microsoft License, but the Activation is the responsibility of Microsoft, so Microsoft take care of it and help people to activate it.

...the OEM is supposed to be sold with a complete new system, so it's to the manufacturer to give the support according to the Microsoft License...

So i'm the oem and i support myself, lol.
Correct, except that there are always forums and fellow pc hobbyists to assist.
Anyway things are a bit different with PUL.
I still don't get what the retail upgrade users will want support with? Something which is not offered to System Builder users.
I'm just curious not that i want it.
