Secure Boot

Was going to download Windows 8 upgrade this morning but when I ran the upgrade Assistant it showed be 4 problems. the 1 I am most concerned about is Secure Boot Isn't Compatible With your PC Your PCs firmware doesn't support Secure Boot so you wont be able to use it in windows 8

What the double hockey sticks is Secure Boot? I never heard of it I have no clue what it even is.

Is this something that needs to be turned Off or On in the Bios? If so I can't find it in my Bios would it be called something different in under the Bios. If so does anyone have an idea what it would be called. It also says something about firmware do I need to update my Bios.

Can anyone please explain to me what this is and what I need to do in order to fix this problem and can you please put it in laymen terms w/o it being to techy.

I have looked online to find out what Secure Boot is but everything I have read so far doesn't explain to me what it even is or what I need to do to fix it.

I have the following Motherboards: Gigabyte M59SLI-S5 and Gigabyte M61PME-S2P Both Motherboards are about 3 to 5yrs old don't know if the Bios can be upgreaded since their that old but if it is something that I already have please let me know.

Someone please help me. Thank You

So your saying I can still do a clean install w/o an existing OS on the hard drive. I know there was and old trick yrs ago where you could use an upgrade CD into thinking there was an OS on the computer by having a Previous full version of Windows on another CD and it would ask for verification of the other CD when asked. is this what your eluding to when you say I can still do a clean install. If so I will try it but I thought Microsoft might have found away around that and I didn't think you could still do it.
