When installing the dl version of W8Pro it doesn't give u the option to choose between 32/64bit version. I understand from MS the OS now analyses ur sys then installs the best for what u have. My laptop originally came with Vista Pro 32; then, later I upgraded to 7 Ulitimate 32. the performance information/tools says the cpu is 64-bit capable; present cpu is Intel Core 2duo T5450mgs which Intel indicates supports 64bit.

After installing the dl it now reads "32-bit; x64 based processor"

Any work-around to install 64bit OS?

No option to chose between 32/64 is given. MS says that option has been removed...sys is analysed and best ver installed. I just can't believe that. What am I missing here?

I did not make an iso...just downloaded and requested "save nothing". If I download the iso on USB can I get the 64bit to install>

Download the 64bit DL.

You should have an upgrade file on your desktop, click on that, it asks some questions and one of them is do you want to install later say yes, then another question do you want to create an ISO file just say yes, when it has created the ISO file, right click on it to burn it to a DVD.
Then boot from that to completely wipe your disk and reformat, make sure you have your key for when you start the installation. If you have a Windows Live account use that. Make sure you feel comfortable doing this and have anything you need backed up, this worked for me, I hope it works for you.

I re-downloaded the software to desktop then moved to USB drive with W7 USB/DVD tool. Now should I run the tool & then install OS?

Twice people have said 'Download 64 bit'.

Ok, how?!? I'm running Win7 32bit so I assuming what is being downloaded by the tool is 32bit 8. I had a Win 7 64bit partition at one point, but didn't restore it after a crash. I'm planning to go all 64 bit now. So how do I download a Win 8 64 bit version if I am running Win 7 32 bit?!?

Where would that be? I didn't see it in the Windows 8 Upgrade assistant. Thanks

As far as I could see there are no options for 32 bit and 64 bit, I installed Pro on a clean partition after formatting it, and it has come up as 64 bit. So it must have analysed my PC.
