Hi all,

I've just downloaded windows 8 onto my win 7 vaio that i bought a few months ago. However, after running the setup, i get to the screen of what needs my attention. Of these, on says:

Alps Touch Pad Utility
Uninstall this app now because it isn't compatible with Windows 8

(see attatchment)

I've got 2 problems:

A: I don't know how to manually uninstall it
B: If i uninstall it, will the touch pad/mouse thing not work when i upgrade to 8??

Any help really appreciated, thought I was going to be loving my windows 8 comp by now!

Thanks,
Dave

Hi

Really fast:

Go to this folder
C:\Program Files\Apoint

choose the file
Uninstap.exe

Simple and it worked for me, actually YOUR post made me look deeper into the oblivion of hard drives. so both thanks, and good luck, mate!

(You kinda made me make this user, just to help you) Again: Good luck

Does this just uninstall it? Can it be re-installed once you have put windows 8 on the machine??

I don't want to end up with a laptop where the mouse pad doesnt work!

Don't worry, it works perfectly fine without the software :)

Sorted, half way down the link I posted above is an option to download the software. However, still leaves the win8 update asking you to uninstall touch pad utility. Did this, it still works, but on win 8 the up/down and side scrolling doesn't work ont he touchpad. Any ideas?

Uhm. My scrolling works, I have to admit. I think you should reinstall the drivers.

I have just updated my vaio z51 to windows 8 and uninstalled the alps driver beforehand. The supplied Windows driver does work with the pad BUT there is none of the gestures or side scrolling, and more frustratingly the typing entry point keeps jumping to another part of the window - there is no suppression of movements during typing. I tried re-installing the windows 7 drivers but they were rejected. Has anyone tried the Gateway driver above on a none-Gateway computer and is it OK?
Thanks
