Upgrade from 7 Fails for no reason

My Win 8 Pro upgrade is failing for no reason. Downloaded just fine, key works, goes through all the reboots, updates, etc. but at the very end I get a pop-up saying the installation has failed. No reason, code or anything else. Also tried with creating physical media.

The only thing that might be different is that the Windows 7 Ultimate is from my still active Technet subscription. The Win8 Pro is the consumer download version that I wanted to test and save my Technet licenses for later.

Anyone else experience a failure with absolutely no explanation or error code?

@Sandstripe, I'll try the same key to upgrade my CP version and report back to see if I have the same issues. I had suspected it might have been due to upgrading from a Technet key of 7 but after a bunch of googling, I don't think that's the case. The initial compatibility check was fine with only a few programs that wouldn't work with 8.

So I finally got this to work by manually uninstalling the Intel Wi-Fi utility on the laptop and then installed by keeping only my files. Upgrade Advisor doesn't flag it but I have a friend at MS (I live in Redmond) and apparently this was one of the incompatibility edge cases.

I'm having this same issue unfortunately.
I think it is linked to the issue of full administrative powers with Windows 7.
Though I have tried by enabling the hidden admin account and everything.
I still get this error on install.
Hopefully someone knows a fix :(

I had to do 2 things to install without error. 1. Manually delete antivirus folders even though I removed it in control panel. 2. Disconnect additional hard drives other than the one I installed windows on, internal and external.
