"Windows 8 installation unsuccessful, reverting back to previous versi

Im sorry, Im new to these forums so I couldn't figure out how to make a new thread.

I got the Pro upgrade last night, and I want to do a "keep all files" install. I went into the BIOS and fixed the "NX" problem by enabling it. The problem is, I can't finish the install. It gets all the way to "Getting Ready", finished the percentage there all the way to 100%. After that the PC restarts with the new windows logo, but fails to start. It restarts again, then gives an error and says
"Windows 8 installation unsuccessful, reverting back to previous version"

I have an Intel i5 2500K Unlocked with Windows 7 Home Premium
    Could someone please help me?

    Yes please some help here.
Myself also. 6 attempts from various starting points.
I saw a hint to unplug all USB devices. Did this; no luck.
    Grrrrrrr.

    Yes I have.
Have actually upgraded an old laptop which just makes the specs.
Newer computer with many things attached won't work.

Same happened with me last weekend. The compatibility test kept telling me I didn't have NX enabled but I did have it enabled in the bios. Also I found 2 different wasy to test for it and they all show me it was enabled from within the win7 that I was trying to upgrade. I tried 3 times, once running the regular live setup; once runing the setup in the sources directory of the DVD, but running it live from within windows; and finally booting from the DVD. Each time, it went all the way through the whole proccess and on the final reboot, it failed with a "reverting back to previous version".

Finally, to give it one last chance, Instead of "keep settings and programs", I went "custom" and told the install to format the partition before installing. That worked flawlessly. Except that I spent a whole day re-installing all my programs after that. I had everything backed up, so I just copied my old AppData\Roaming directory on top of the new install and that worked quite for most application settings.

Are you all disabling or uninstalling any security software you have added? It often causes problems when upgrading a system or installing service packs for instance. There's always MS support I suppose.

Uninstall it and retry. Another thing that often faults, is your graphics driver the latest one.

I use AVG Free version. Tried Uninstall but that of course did not uninstall it. Have downloaded the AVG Clean Tool. Will try this tomorrow then try again.
I'll try upgrading any graphic drivers as well.
    Wish me luck
