I have a sony vaio laptop.
I recently installed windows 8 enterprise trial to test windows 8.
Can I use the upgrade option (windows 8 pro) from this link (Buy Windows - Microsoft Windows) ?
The only way I can prove that I am a legitimate windows vista user , now that I have formatted the whole disk and installed windows 8 enterprise trial , is by a ticket with windows vista serial number on the bottom of the laptop.
Thank you.

You cannot upgrade from the WIndows 8 enterprise trial...they were very clear about this.

You will need to re-install your copy of Vista and then upgrade from that copy of Vista.

Yes, they do. It's the System Builder/OEM version and it's $140 retail.

Here is an article describing concerns of using the Windows 8 enterprise eval
Windows 8 RTM 90-day free trial available to all, but seriously, don’t do it | VentureBeat

And specifically the drawbacks

The 90-day free trial comes with a lot of drawbacks. Microsoft writes:
• The evaluation edition will expire and cannot be upgraded.
• To upgrade, the evaluation must be uninstalled and a nonevaluation version of Windows must be reinstalled from your original installation media.
• Consider running the evaluation edition in a virtual environment or installing on a separate hard drive or partition. The will allow you to upgrade your original Windows installation to Windows 8.
• During registration (required) you must log in with a Microsoft account and provide your name, e-mail address, and country.
• You are required to activate the product online within 10 days after installing.
• Once the evaluation is installed, you cannot upgrade. To revert to a previous version of Windows, you must do a clean install from your original installation media.

I am sorry, but no upgrades was very clear. :(

There is a workaround, ;).
Reinstall the RP and then upgrade with your Vista license. :)

Hope it works!

RP is the release preview version of Windows 8.

You cannot install Vista with just the key. You would need the installation media as well.

No, but the upgrade.
Use Release Preview on your laptop until the upgrade comes out, and the with a previous license, you can re-enter your product key and use 8 Pro. :)

The release preview will install with a release preview key, which is good until Jan of 2013.

From there, you go into the microsoft store and choose to purchase the $39.99 upgrade OS, and it will ask you for the key from your Vista machine. Once you can provide this valid Vista key, they will give you the $39.99 upgrade and you can upgrade the release preview to Windows 8 final.

This may be the simplistic way to put it, format your C: drive and install Release Preview on it.

Install RP on a USB
First, use a RP ISO image with the Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool. Burn it to a CD or USB stick.

Install over the RTM
Install on your C: drive if you have installed Windows 8 Enterprise over Vista.

Wait until tomorrow
Use the upgrade adviser tomorrow and re-enter your Vista product key.

This should help. :)
