I have a Windows 7 Premium upgrade that was upgraded from Vista on my Dell Inspiron 530 PC. Can I upgrade from this to Windows 8 Pro, without having to remove Windows 7? Or will I have to go back To Vista to install the Windows 8 Pro Upgrade. If the latter is the case, can I take my PC back to Vista Factory settings to get rid of Windows 7 upgrade. Grateful for any help.
Moonshine.

Windows 8 is an upgrade...it's the only way it comes from what I've read. So no you wont have to go back to any OS. It should upgrade over top of your existing OS, that's why it has a new product key. According to my understanding of windows 8 as it stands right now.

Thanks Bashfisher 6522, I needed that confirmation. I was a bit worried about losing the Windows 7 upgrade, if any thing went wrong in an upgrade to Windows 8 Pro. Thanks for the quick reply.

I upgraded my Laptop yesterday, from Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 8 Pro, and it went thru perfectly. Kept all of my programs and settings too.

Only thing i had to uninstall first, was Microsoft Security Essentials, as the upgrade told me it wasnt compatible.

Just for your information.

Cheers,

OzzY

Hello moonshine :)

I think this can clear some of your doubts about the upgrade:

This is official Blog from Microsoft. Phone Man gave this link in a thread, so credit goes to him for sharing this with us :)

Hope this helps :)
