Hi all,

Does anyone know how to get OpenGL for Windows 8 RP? I want to play Minecraft but I get that annoying error message about bad video drivers. I assume that means I don't have OpenGL. Whenever I try to install something for it, it just does nothing. Any ideas?

They don't work only if you have a Intel graphics card.

Are you using a NVidia or ATI card instead?

Ahhh...
Ignore this, your specs say Intel .

Right click on the desktop -> screen resolution -> advanced settings

and you get something like this:

There you go.

No worries.
Take your time. And drive carefully, if you're driving.

It's already midnight here and I go to bed now.

Till next time.

Yes, but I get a "This system does not meet the minimum requirements"

From the I3 2.4 GHz, and your mention of "Built in display", I deduce that your PC is a notebook. It would have been useful to mention that.

The link I provided was to desktop drivers.

It may be possible to give you better advice when we find out what the notebook is. If you can provide the complete make and model number, that should be sufficient. (By "complete", I mean more detailed than saying something like "It's an HP DV6." That's a series, not a model number.)

So, it's first gen hd graphics, so you must do this : https://docs.google.com/document/d/16McBKkQuD49jQDBeWirIa4te-thrqMe6nNFOttIDbSA/edit?pli=1 , it's very easy, you just have to download intel hd drivers for windows 7, download some windows development software, modify one text file (just copy few lines from one place to another), and sign drivers again - it's a one minute job, but it will take some time to download software - its about 2 gb.

There is a mistake in line
signtool sign /v /s PrivateCertStore /n GfxTest.com /t http://timestamp.verisign.com/scripts/timestamp.dll igdhl.cat
last file must be igdlh.cat

If you still don't manage to install drivers, go to Control Panel -> Device Manager and look at the system devices like this:
sysdevices.png

There you also see the chipset (here I have 945G) and we're able to find the specific drivers on intel's site.

Sleep well!

What do you mean by "those did not work" ? Can you tell what exactly was wrong, did you get any errors ? I'm interested, because i have laptop with core i3 370m with intel hd graphics (first gen), and i did it myself, and everything works just perfect.

It went about half way in to the installation then it says "some components could not be installed, setup will now quit" or something along those lines. I'll try for a more accurate answer tomorrow, it's bedtime :)
