GPU Driver does not work for install

Installing for dual-boot from .iso on DVD - the sensible way to try this software.

nVidia just released Windows 8 drivers for its cards, but my install of Windows 8 won't work with their new driver (on a flash drive.) It says "we couldn't install the driver... contact your vendor..." My pc is home-built, and the motherboard does not have on-board graphics, so the install requires the driver, or it won't complete. I don't know how to get around this and am very disappointed that Microsoft and nVidia would offer this software to the public at this stage. Such a waste of time!

Just a guess...would the dual booting with drivers all ready installed for one OS be causing some kind of conflict with the install of 2nd OS. A good way to check this; if you have a spare hard drive, remove primary HDD, install spare HDD and do a clean install of 8 RP and see if the driver takes that way. Just a thought.

If Windows is asking for a driver "during the install process" you will have to unzip/uncompresse the NVidia installer file before hand. I just downloaded the 296.17 installer package and it installed OK as is. I unzip it with 7Zip when I save it to my flash drive. Then I just run the setup.exe file to install it. You will likely have to point Windows 8 to the "Display.Driver" folder.
