Thought I had this issue resolved a while back. I have a Toshiba laptop using an AMD A4-5000 processor w/Radeon HD Graphics running at 1.5Ghz. with 6GB onboard, 500GB hard drive. Running Windows 8.1. All drivers are updated. I run disk defrag, malware, spyware, adware, and virus scanning on regular basis.

Problem first came up last year shortly after I installed Netflix. Both Netflix and video's on Facebook would show up a pea soup green color, play sound and that's it. As I said, thought I had this fixed. Did some research on Google. The fix was suppose to be going to IE's Internet Options>Advanced and then making sure the very first box was checked off making sure that it selected to "use software rendering instead of gpu rendering".

This green screen has been happening more and more lately. Today, I even checked Media Player as well. Classic wouldn't load avi's, mpeg4, ect. Just gave a black screen. The newer video player that Windows 8.1 uses, played the video, but very choppy. Spent most of the morning here going over all the settings to see if anything else can be done. Suggestions?

Does HDMI or other video out sources do the same thing?

You don't say anything about having the latest drivers or re-installing them. Uninstall graphics adapter in Device Manager then reboot, see if any change.

All drivers updated regularly. Video driver and Window's both. Never tried to do HDMI out. Don't have any need to honestly.
