Solved Video Card Unable to be Detected

This is a fairly new system that I have conjured and I am a fairly new person to the world of computer parts. I've been trying to enable the video card so that I may use it to play beautiful games, however, the motherboard has other plans for me. It wants me to suffer. I've talked to multiple people about trying to get the card to work, and all of them have failed to figure out the issue. So far, the AMD drivers should be uninstalled, the card appears to be in a working state, (although the outside may be lying to me), and the integrated graphics should be disabled. With all of this in mind, why is the card not being detected? I turn to this forums in the name of the turtle to solve such a problem.

I did use DDU and then try to install the Omega Drivers. However, each time I attempted to install the new drivers, my computer would crash and be forced to reboot.

Are we saying when the Video Cards drivers are uninstalled, card is working, sorry if i seem confused by your first post ?
Rarely ever have to disable an integrated video card when installing a Discrete card (PCI Slot) .

If not detecting it at all with or without drivers, try reseating card again, first uninstall drivers How-To Uninstall AMD Catalyst Drivers From A Windows Based System Usually do not need third party uninstallers do this.

BIOS update may or may not solve this, can also look in the BIOS make sure possibly certain setting for PCI-E slot as this board is back from 2012, highly doubt need to change anything there, take look at Gigabytes site GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket AM3+ - GA-78LMT-USB3 (rev. 4.1)

Correct drivers should be here for this ASUS Card Graphics Cards - R9290-DC2OC-4GD5 - ASUS

Any possibility can check this card on another system ? Mostly as said driver issue, but need to know if card is not defective in any way.

O.k. not everyone does have another PC check it on, just another way make sure of defect. Did you try to reseat the card ? Try drivers from ASUS site i shown you, as this is a AMD card ?

Let's start from beginning. Purchased this card put it in, installed AMD drivers, then check the Device manager see if card was listed under Display and it wasn't? What made you feel it was working off your integrated card ?

Check also from system information, at run command type msinfo32 go to components click + go down to display, see if it shows there.
What i want to know is what is giving you a picture if not this card or do you have a picture on screen ?

I first felt that my system was running off of the integrated graphics since after I had installed it and ran League of Legends, the speed of the game was slow. Checked device manager and the card was not detected.

The system is currently running off of the integrated graphics, or ATI Radeon 3000.

Question, what is listed in Device Manager under Display ? When this Radeon card is installed, integrated card ?. Do you get the correct drivers from ASUS site or even AMD's site ? Did you check msinfo32 i told you of or try reinstall card inside case again ?

What do you mean by attempt to get, download ? Then system crashes ? Or when try to install them ? What type of crash, Blue Screen ? Check event viewer under Custom Views, then Administrative events, see which in list have red circle saying Error.

First need you to describe it better on questions i first asked in this post.

It's not really much of a blue screen crash, (at least, it doesn't appear to be), but it occurs while installing the newest drivers for my card. The error is as follows: "SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION (AtihdWB6.sys)." When I open up Event Viewer, the error is listed as an Error from the source of Perflib with the event ID of 1008.

Hopefully this is what you're looking for, i'll be here for a few more hours waiting on the thread.

EDIT: Attaching two images with this post of the system crash and event viewer.

This is a very common error with AMD drivers, unfortunately many reasons can happen. Event Viewer we needed see details of event, by left click it towards bottom of middle screen, be details to this error. Another place is crash memory dump, now i am not knowledge enough at memory dump file.

Say for one it is a driver issue, conflict with another on system, corrupt and not properly uninstalled AMD driver. Others can be out of date system drivers. Look at this article try steps at bottom, just do not do the registry one. One other thing would be to try to find an older AMD driver, this might be hard to find, but could also be an issue with just this new driver as internet is flooded with this error and many alike. This is sort of and pretty much a Windows 8.1 Blue screen crash.

I'll try these steps tomorrow and update tomorrow. Thanks.

Your Welcome, take a look into also yourself, just Google this error on AtihdWB6.sys file. Also i saw no updates for your motherboard on Gigabytes site except for USB 3.0 and one other surprising not much there, as i looked through 4 revisions of this board. AMD drivers have the tendency to have issues it seems. Was this card bought brand new ? No offense, but this is not one of there better models R9. Considering your system specs can go better. I have Always used NVIDIA so far i never had issues with them.

Meant able to go to higher card, good processor on board, the ratings were not too good on the R9, then troublesome drivers.

I tried steps 1 - 9 and found no solution to the problem, so I'll probably be reinstalling Windows and wiping my hard drive this Saturday to try this installation process from scratch. Anything you guys have to get the GPU working before then will be wonderful.

SFC Command System File Checker i assume did not find or fix anything ? Yes sometimes due to corrupt or missing system files, but as you seen not only reasons. Clean install takes time putting back all updates, drivers and software you put in, this may fix the issues of slow boot, AMD Sys error and or possible virus as long as it is not in boot sector (the virus) if you even had one or not. Nothings a guarantee till all is tried. Saying if do clean install, if due to a conflict, may be there again.
