Current setup is a good MSI LGA1155 mobo with one pci-e x16 slot, good quality graphics card , Windows 8.1 Pro, i7 3770K CPU, 32GB DDR3 RAM

#1 How much effect and would a matched set of good quality graphics cards set in SLI have for saving time while rendering edited video files?
And would it be worth buying a new mobo with 2 pci-e x16 & a matched set of good quality graphics cards?

#2 Would a RAID setup help save time & speed up the process of rendering videos?

Going to be building a new pc with LGA1150 mobo, 4th or 5th gen i7 CPU & DDR3 RAM

I just read in a link from google that for editing &rendering video it's CPU, RAM and then GPU.
SLI doesn't help at all brcause rendering is done in the CPU not GPU.
GPU does make difference for gaming and the user isn't a gamer.
I'll marek this solved unless someone says different.

Another potential help would be an SSD over an HDD, because of faster reads and writes. There are also faster RAM stick speeds, though I doubt much noticeable help would come from that. DDR4, released in 2014, is also faster than DDR3, just as newer higher-end processors than the 3rd gen mentioned (I would guess this is obvious though lol). You will (most) probably never need near 32GB RAM though...

certainly GPUs help in the rendering process, and I believe Nvidia has had success in their GPUs being more efficient at it. It depends a lot on the application you are using for rendering.

Its not my computer and I only know about rendering from mild but complicated experience making desktop tutorials with Cam Studio before health issues.
After all the reading I've done though, I've got a better understanding of of of of of.......:what:something. LOL

Some rendering programs allow certain graphics cards/vendors to use gpu acceleration to render faster (i.e. Adobe Illustrator/Premeire). It's really program specific.
