Trouble with three monitors

I have a unique application. Here is what I have:
Asus N551JK Laptop with GTX 850M vid card
1) Laptop screen set to 1920x1080
2) MiniDisplay port with adapter (DP to VGA) to a projector which is set to 1080
3) HDMI port out to a second projector which is set to 1080

What I need:
The three outputs on 2 screens. That is, #1 and #2 to be identical, and #3 is a separate screen.

Is there a way to set this in the resolution set up screen, or will I need a monitor software to do this?

I've been wrestling with a similar problem and so far, I'd say your answer is no - can't duplicate on two screens while extending to another one. You're still using 3 outputs and that's apparently beyond tricky.

/I've been trying to run 3 extended displays to no avail.

Win 8 de-Modernized is pretty much my go-to at this point, but I still flirt with Linux and the KDE desktop environment.
As long as you're not trying to display three separate images, you should be able to just get something as simple as a Y-splitter cable that duplicates the signal. It's when you want each monitor to display an independent image that you need a third RAMDAC.

There do exist USB video cards. Forget about trying to use them for any kind of gaming, but they're workable for simple things like word processing.

My primary desktop has a ATI Radeon HD 46000 Series display adapter with 1 gb or onboard dedicated video memory. I have a HP w2338h LCD monitor (1920x1080) as my primary on HDMI. I have a Dell s2404W (Digital, 1920x1080) across from me for watch videos on DVI. It's defined as extended desktop. Now I connected a ViewSonic VA2012wb (1680x1050) on to VGA 15-pin. This third monitor is intended to be vertical for reading, leaving my primary monitor available to work on. Unfortunately I seem to be limited to have just two monitors active at a time. A third monitor must become disabled.

Can anyone explain what brick wall I seem to be hitting with a third monitor? The adapter has three monitor connectors and I don't recall reading anything about being limited to two (of three) at once.

If it's a limitation of the adapter, can I get all three monitors active if I place the third monitor on another video adapter, preferable a USB3-based adapter?

I'm running Win 8.1 Pro x64 on an ASUS P6 X58-E WS motherboard with a Xeon 5600 6-core processor. I currently have 13gb of memory.

Thank you in advance for any insights.

You should start a new thread on that issue, instead of bumping this old one..

It seems rather arbitrary for you to demand I post to a new thread when this thread really was never answered. Forgive me for my bluntness, but with all of your claimed certifications, might it have been just as easy to provide a solution than demand an arbitrary hoop to jump through. Can you refer me to posted rules of usage which states when a new thread is demanded?

I didn't demand anything? I merely suggested you start a new thread so you could get better help with your issue. If you bump and old thread people have to read though the whole thread to finally get to your issue. That just confuses things. Plus the thread title may not match your issue so some people won't even read it. Being a smart @ss and copping an attitude won't get you very far hear so you might want to chill out a bit. Is it really that hard to start a new thread?

Oh, and just so you know, I replied because I got an e-mail that a new post had be made to this thread that I am subscribed too. I'm subscribed because I posted in the original thread. Your issue is likely that your HDMI and DVI connectors are feed from the same decoder. They are not independent outputs.
