Solved Only Detects Intel 4600 Not Nvidia GPU - NEW PC

Hello.

I just bought a Zeus Mini i300 from Best Buy. PC arrived today, set it up and it will not detect the GTX 750. it only detects the Intel Integrated HD card on the mobo. Not sure what to do, I've tried a number of things and my computer doesn't even detect the GTX 750. In GPU-z only the Intel HD shows up. I don't know if this is a factor but upon first boot, I had the monitor plugged into the mobo i.e. Intel HD. Whenever I try to plug into the GPU, be it HDMI or regular cable that came with the monitor, there is nothing but darkness. Tried to install Nvidia drivers, it cannot detect hardware. In the BIOS it's under PEG instead of IGD but still nothing. When I boot up with the cable plugged into the slot for the GPU, I cannot even see the BIOS. It's just a dark screen. My last resort was to try Windows Update, and it downloaded some nVidia apater/drivers right now for the GTX 750. Updates were a success, apparently, yet in device manager I still only see the Intel 4600 and when trying to manually install the Nvidia driver that I downloaded from their website, it says "could not find compatibable hardware". I am at a loss and this is a completely new system. Under device manager, when I click to show hidden items, it does show the GTX 750 and says it is not properly connected (code 45).

My friend and I tried to do some troubleshooting and now the GTX 750 doesn't even show up under hidden devices.

As soon as I plug into the MSi GTX 750 slot, HDMI or regular cable from the monitor, doesn't matter...no input. BIOS is set to PEG and not IGD. Doesn't matter, it just defaults to the Intel 4600.

Whenever I try to install drivers it just says it doesn't detect the hardware. I am at a loss and by no means an expert in any of this. I am not sure if maybe the GPU came loose during transit, it was packaged pretty tight but you never know. I am afraid if I open it, the Cyperpowerpc warranty will be voided. Since I am in Canada, I am also at a loss as to what to do. I bought it from Best Buy Canada. It was an Online Only purchase. Can you even return those in store?

I really do appreciate any help provided. I am just at a loss and so disappointed and deflated right now. I was really excited for this PC.

EDIT: Researched, seeing as how it's Cyperpowerpc, opening the case will not void their warranty. Only damaging hardware will.

Yeah, I can't even get the side panels of the case off after unscrewing what was holding it.

Yeah I figure I will just return it to Best Buy.

I guess it's a DOA card. Maybe it came loose inside, who knows, but Best Buy won't do that and I didn't get any of that Geek Squad rubbish.

14 days to return it. Already packaged it back up. Really disappointed and defeated right now.I was looking forward to a new desktop with these specs. I have been on an ASUS G53JW for the past 4 years with aging hardware (GTX 460M, i7 1.73 GHz, 6 GB's) and I really needed something new. This was the best price for these components I could find in my budget (under 1K). I just shelled out a ton for uni textbooks so. And sadly, only found this model on Best Buy - Online Only model.

Do I take a chance and order it again after I get my refund...? I don't know but I don't know what else to get.

Read the reviews for that card on the site you bought it on. If you see a lot of reports of DOA cards or other such issues don't rebuy that card from them again. Maybe even avoid that card altogether. If it is getting good reviews then you likely gut got unlucky. It happens sometimes.

You had the required power supply wattage and plugged in all the required power cables?

OK, for some reason I thought you added the card to the system. Reseat it in the slot, if you haven't already. Otherwise, as suggested, return the system and or have them fix the issue.

I tried to open the case. I can't slide it off. I unscrewed the thumbscrews at the back, they were in there damn good and it won't slide off on either panel. I am afraid if I use more force than I already am, I may break it. In which case, I can't return it to Best Buy.

I am on hold with them right now to see if they can open it themselves (Geek Squad) even though I don't have a service plan and check the GPU.

It would be a shame to return this new system when the solution could be as simple as the GPU needs to be reset or came loose during transit. This was an Online Only purchase from Best Buy.

Any ideas as to what could be causing this? Getting Code 45 when I saw the GTX 750 under hidden devices. It's completely gone now after some troubleshooting my friend and I did but it's not like it worked before either.

It happens some times. Especially if the card is big and or heavy. There should be a locking tab but it doesn't take much to bypass some of them, or it didn't lock completely when the card was installed. I can't find a rear view of that case, but the manual should tell you how to open it. It could also be DOA, you won't know for sure until you reseat it. You'd think it was checked as operational before the PC was shipped?

It's Best Buy, so....I doubt it. Who knows. When I was uninstalling some stuff, I did find the Nvidia drivers and all that in there, it said they were installed on June 19, 2014. Bought this late evening September 4th, shipped out afternoon of September 5th and received it today.

Got off the phone with someone at Best Buy who actually knew what the hell I was talking about. Told him I don't want to open the case myself even though it is a custom built one (CyperpowerPC) as I don't want to damage anything and then not be able to return it in 14 days at BB. I tried to get the case off to check the GPU, it's on real good and I can't slide it off unless I try to use more force and honestly I am afraid I will break it.

They said bring it in, have Geek Squad open it and take a look at it themselves if the solution is as simple as the GPU came loose or anything like, simple solution. If not and they suggest sending it to the manu for an overhaul or anything like that, best to return it as it is within the 14 days. Then I can either re-order it (Online-Only purchase ugh) or find something else.

I have my heart set on this PC as I don't have the time or knowledge at the moment to build my own. It has the specs I wanted and is in my budget. I really hope they can get this sorted and it really is as simple as it came loose during transit. The GPU does seem quite big if I peek through the side-panels.

I don't know if any of these help, I doubt it, but it's what I have from when I was trying to troubleshoot it. I have it packaged up already but if someone has a solution that doesn't involve opening it, I am willing to take it out to try that.

The GPU is at the top and the mobo is at the bottom. The GPU had the plug for the HDMI slot, I took it out but the issue arose even before I did (I used tweezers to pull it out, so I definitely didn't damage anything). It was like this from first boot, went right to the 4600 and couldn't detect the 750.

It looks like a low profile case with full size cards mounted at a 45 degree angle? That means there is a riser card in there. At least that's what it looks like to me. If it's already boxed up you may as well send it back

Yeah it's the Zeus Mini i300 from CyperpowerPC. It's a smaller case than normal and the GTX 750 is mounted at the top rather than the bottom. The GPU isn't big in terms of width but it is quite long and I can peek through the case and see it sticking out. I can actually touch it a bit through the case where there is a small opening near the back.

I truly hope they can easily fix this and I do not have to return it. If I do, I'll try again, re-ordering the same model. If the same thing happens to the next one upon shipping, that's that. Returning it and not going to bother again. If it happens twice, it's obviously an issue with the manufacturer. Though they seem very highly recommended and the way to go if you do not want to build your own PC.

I really do appreciate all the replies since I am at a loss and never had this happen before.

I realized what the problem likely is... The video card connects to the motherboards PCI-e x16 slot via a PCI-e x16 riser/ribbon cable. This likely came loose and is why the GTX 750 wasn't being detected.

Regardless, I returned the PC today at Best Buy. Got a full refund, even for the shipping. Ordered this one online:
CYBERPOWERPC Gamer Xtreme GXi680 Gaming PC (Intel Core i5/2TB/8GB/NVIDIA Geforce GTX750 1GB)-English : Everyday Computing - Best Buy Canada

Near identical specs but $10 more. Full-sized case, 2 TB HDD instead of 1 and the CPU is 3.3 GHz instead of 3.2. Not that it will be a big difference. I feel much better about this one as it's a full-sized case so easier to upgrade and it should't have the ribbon issue.
