Hello, I'm new here and I never browsed this forum before...
First of all, my english is basic, so if I don't explain very good, I'm very sorry.

OK, what I want to do is the same that a lot of users that have their smartphones (Android OS), is change the original DPI o screen resolution (force a different scale/resolution)
For example if someone know about what I'm trying to say of Android OS is when you want more space avaible on your desktop or the objects/texts/sidebar/icons/etc... looks like smaller than before, you just need to go to this directory (/system) and edit the file (build.prop) and finally locate the line called (ro.sf.lcd_density=xxx) and change the original density number of your screen's device by other smaller; and when you'll restart the device you'll have the same os similar size's desktop of one Note 3 in your SGS3 mini.
I´ll hope I explained good...

So, in resume. I would like to have a 1920x1080 (for example, or smaller I don't know what resolution is correct for my case), from my actual resolution of my laptop that it's 1280x800 pixels.
And for more details:
- Windows 8.1 Pro (x86)
- Resolution 1280x800 (15,4") and 16:10
- Graphic Adapter Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) 950 (Intel GMA 945 GM)
- Only the original monitor (laptop), not an external monitor

Alphanumeric, thanks for your reply...
But, isn't what I want to do on my PC.

Here is the same or similar (I'm not sure), what I would like to get; but I can't cotinue with the steps on these post because I have a problem in some steps...

* I would like to have a biggest emulated resolution or DPI, I don't know which is which here; and make everthing smaller than before. So, you imagine that you have actually a monitor with 1280x800 pixels (maximum) and you want to make everything smaller, makeing an emulation of a big resolution by software.

Go to screen resolution > advanced settings > list all modes. Don't be surprised if you get an "signal out of range" message and no display.

The only maximum mode that the PC can give me is 1280x800. I want to emulate a bigger one.

By default it will only list modes supported by your display. Clicking "list all modes" bypasses that and lists all screen resolutions supported by the video card. But like I said, your monitor may not like it and just display a out of range error message.

Running a flat screen at any resolution other than its native resolution can cause issues like a poor image quality. You might find it strains your eyes too which could give you a headache. So buying a new monitor may be the way to go. Have a good look at any running display models before buying if you can. 1080P is the sweat spot for me. I have a 22" 1920 x 1080 and love it.

It's an LG 22", I'm on my laptop at the moment so I don't have the exact model number. It's an older model and doesn't have an HDMI input or speakers. VGA and DVI. I've had it for a while now. When I'm back on desktop PC later in the day I'll try to remember to post the exact model number. I'm out on my back deck in my gazebo at the moment trying to beat the heat. Ironically I'm drinking a coffee. :D

It's an LG E2242, I'd have to look at the sticker to get the full product number but that's what device manager shows.
