HDMI not working - after system reset - screen cracked

Hi thanks for reading.

Im not a IT guru so bare with me and ill give as much details as possible..

I recently cracked the screen on my

HP ENVY M6
intel core i7
windows 8

laptop and i have been using the HDMI output to see what im doing on my tv

today i performed a full reset on the computer and wiped all the files

and now the HDMI isn't displaying anything on the TV
?
this is really bugging is there any other way to get a picture?

    Asus RT-AC56R dual-band WRT router (Merlin firmware). Intel 7260.HMWWB.R dual-band ac wireless adapter.
Try this, press the Windows Logo key and the P key. Now press the down arrow once and hit enter. That switches the display mode from "PC Only" to "Duplicate". Down arrow twice is "Extend" and down arrow 3 times is "Second Screen only".

That might be the problem. (the driver) Also, Have you changed the screen settings in the charms?
