Which PCIeX16 slot should I use for a SATA3 card

My motherboard has 3 PCIeX16 and 4 PCIeX1 slots. I was planning to use an X1 slot but when the SATA3 card arrived I discovered (realised) it was X2 so I must use one of my X16 slots but which? Or doesn't it matter?

More detail.... I currently use on-board graphics but may(?) get a graphics card sometime? Windows 8.1 64bit, 16Gb 2400 DDR3 memory Asus Deluxe/Dual MB etc :geek:

Read the user manual which just puzzled me more with talk of X16 slots sharing bandwidth and IRQs etc. I will NEVER have more than one graphics card which I assume will go into slot 1 as it is yellow (to be different as the other 2 are black).

Does it matter whether I use slot 2 or 3? If so, why? :p

TIA :)

Hey mate, I would probably use slot 3 as it gives a bit more breathing space between your (future?) graphics card and this card. Weather is certainly changing isn't it?

So no technical answer besides spacing? :geek:

That's why I was tending to slot 3 too as it is closer to my HDD cradles in the bottom of my Antec Nineteen Hundred. SATA cables are rather short in length :p

With the card I will have 18 SATA3 ports :) :) :) :)

Yes, I don't like this weather! How do we go back to summer? :dinesh:
