Cannot install Nvidia GTS 450 card, no output to monitor

So I recently bought a new computer. I was using the GTS 450 on the old one no problem not even a month ago. I have attempted to install it on my new pc. Switched out to a Thermaltake TR2 600W PSU which is operating just fine. I placed the video card into the primary pci slot and powered it with the 6-pin connector. Put everything back together and started her up. PC turns on fine, with even the fan going on the video card. But no video output. I'm stuck. What can I do? The drivers won't install themselves without the hardware.

Do you have no visual at all , only black screen.
If you have visual does the new gpu been recognized in the device manager.
Sometimes the integrated gpu is not automaticcaly disabled when you install a new gpu and you must disable the integrated gpu manually in the bios.

What cable are you using to connect the monitor to the GPU? Is the cable fully seated? Is the GPU fully seated? Have you downloaded the driver from the Nvidia website?

Yeah I'm getting no visual at all, monitor is on but screen is black. The cable I'm using to connect the two is VGA with a DVI adapter. Really the only option I have since neither of my monitors have HDMI input. Cable is fully seated, and I have downloaded the driver as well. I tried to install the drivers, but I was prompted that the hardware has to be in place before I install the drivers.

I wouldn't know how to disable the integrated GPU via BIOS... and if I figured it out, would I have to disable it while using it?

I thinking it's the GPU itself....not being fully seated...meaning pushed all the way into the PCI slot or the connection is loose. Please recheck physical installation of GPU, it should make a click sound and you do have to use a little force to make sure it's snug/fully seated.

Is this the same setup with cable and adapter on previous PC? I would highly recommend getting a DVI cable.

I'll try giving it a bit of force. I did notice that before I had it in far enough to where the retention lever popped in to place, but of course I was being weary not to damage anything. And yeah this is the same setup cable wise as my previous pc

Well, that rules out the adapter as a possible cause. Do you have the right PCI E power cable plug in to the GPU and fully seated?

So just gave it another shot, fully seated... and the PCE cable I'm using has a number one on it as I assumed that was the primary power.

something curious.... When I didn't get anything through my monitor, I disconnected the vga cable and connected it to the integrated gpu port. Before I did so, the monitor said no VGA input, will go to sleep in five minutes. When I moved the cable to the integrated gpu port, that message went away but I still wasn't getting a signal.

Do you still have your old computer.
You could reinstall your gpu in the old computer to check if it still works properly and isn't damaged.

Or maybe you can borrow a gpu from a friend to install in your new computer.

unfortunately not, I'd like to try that BIOS thing though if that still sounds viable.

Unfortunately I don't have it. If that kind of situation presents itself though I'll take advantage. I wouldn't mind giving it a shot though to disable the onboard vgu via BIOS if that's still plausible....

I suspect not, because you mentioned earlier "When I moved the cable to the integrated gpu port, that message went away but I still wasn't getting a signal.". So i assume that in the BIOS the integrated gpu is disabled (automaticaly).
