    and the display of a laptop is a flat panel display. flat panel doesn't mean desktop monitor. in fact, flat panels were common on laptops long before they were common on the desktop.
    I see. Thanks. Can't agree on what people tend to include in "flat panel," but it doesn't really matter. I searched on "flat panel computer" (didn't use the word monitor or screen). This is the sort of thing that tends to come up. No laptops there. Many, many pages.

    Just for people coming across this thread, LCD screens should display in their native resolution (highest). The ability of the graphics card to handle higher pixel count is meaningless. Operating an LCD below the native resolution will make the image appear larger but also fuzzy. This true of all LCD regardless if they are lit by LED or CFL. If someone has released a true LED display for regular computer use, I am unaware of it. Sony did build a prototype LED TV display last year.

I found a handy little registry hack which is good for older laptop users/mobile devices which have a resolution for 1024x600. I'm not sure if it will work and I'm not sure if it will cause your computer to explode. Just thought I'd share.
