Installed the Windows 8.1 update and have one annoying problem. I tried to play a couple of games and they both changed my resolution. I blame 8.1 completely and not my tablet because i played the same games without issue many times before updating. These are simple mindless games .. Mahjong and Sudoku.

Hey shEEEsh... Just wanted to commend you on your avatar choice and user name. They fit well toghether and gave me a good chuckle. However, I see that your issue has had a 120 views without a response so I thought I just drop by and see if I can (possibly) confirm your issue is a Win 8.1 (or maybe an IE11) issue. Anyway, I have an 8.1 laptop and if you can give me a link to where you are playing online (the specific game), I can do a quick test to see if I get the same results.

Not playing online games. But here is a problem. Right now Firefox is only 3/4 the size that it should be. Use 3/4 of the screen. My IE is the correct size. Fills the entire screen. I have reinstalled drivers for callibratation etc. my rotate button no longer works even though i reinstalled the drivers. Maybe video drivers would help? I know more about computers than i did a few years ago, but i keep forgetting things so maybe viseo drivers won't do any good at all. BTW. I am using a Samsung Slate 7 ... Actually the same but different one from the Build Conference of 2012 (i think)

Having resolution problem with two programs that I have dicovered so far. Firefox and Windows Explorer. Almost every time I opened either, they open only as wide as they would in portrait view. Every rime i want to use Firefox or Win Explorer I need to change my computer to portrait view and save and then immediately change back to landscape and save ... What's up with that?

The tablet that I am having this problem on is the Samsung Slate / Windows 8.1

I'm curious, your Samsung Tablet, what version OS did it have before you decided to go with the 8.1 preview? Just doing a quick search I find that it's installed OS is 7 and don't see any drivers for 8. If it's like my Samsung RV511 laptop, when I tried to install winodws 8, I was told by Samsung that there are no drivers/software/firmware or BIOS updates and there are no plans to do so. So your tablet may be in the same proverbial boat as my laptop.

With out knowing your exact make and model, this link is as close as I can find.

Mine is the Samsung that was given away at the developers conference. It came with Windows 8 develepers preview. When Win 8 was released I bought the full version. Had no problems untill i upgraded to Windows 8.1. Thanks for taking the time to answer.

Hi there
IE11 has rendering problems -- some due to IE11 and some due to older software used in running web sites -- so that issue might take a while to fix. IE11 makes a lot of use of HTML5 and tries to avoid any use of things like adobe flash player so web sites still using that technology will not render decently in a lot of cases on IE11.

However normal video (non Web / IE) should be handled by the video drivers in your computer -- which seem in most cases to work fine. Specialized games etc which make non standard calls to video hardware will be another problem -- but things like playing movies etc work fine in W8.1.

Cheers
jimbo
