Graphics Driver Update Failed, Help!

So I've been trying to update my graphics card. Before I ever got the notification for the update and tried to install it, I could play minecraft, and star craft, and watch Netflix video. When I did install, and was given the failed due to I/O error box, I couldn't play any games or watch any Netflix. Don't know what to do to fix this. Since, I've gone to my manufacturers website and re-installed my driver, but I think the real problem is seeing how I cant connect it. It always says it failed due to the I/O error, so I cant connect it to the video card or something.
My computer is a Toshiba. other info:
  • Model: Satellite L875D
  • Processor: AMD A6-4400M APU with Radeon(TM) HD Graphics 2.70 GHz
  • Plenty of RAM (only 5 month old computer)
In Device Manager under Display Adapters It says Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. I just need to know how to change it. I've gone in through device manager, pressed update driver, chose to do it manually and choose a signed driver. When I choose My AMD Radeon Drive and it attempts to install, it always says it failed due to an I/O error. This has been going on for a week or so, and I thought I could fix it, but nothing works.

If you need anymore info, just ask, I just really need help im going to go nuts!

uninstall the video drivers from device manager

do your windows updates for at least your chipsets and graphics driver

download the drivers here Official Toshiba Support | Toshiba

your full model number is required there are 5 more digits after the L875D >> L875D-XXXXX

Scroll down the huge list of drivers, and find your chipset if possible, but at least your graphics adapter..

I've downloaded the drive. But whenever I try to install it, it says it's failed due to an I/O error. I've been told more recently that a lot of new updates don't work for windows 8 yet, so I should try and re download the one I had before. I'm about to try that, but I have doubts it will work. I can't fully install anything from AMD. The catalyst program or the driver updates. I would like to know how to change my Display Adapter from Microsoft Basic Display Adapter to my AMD Adapter. But whenever I go to update the microsoft driver it fails, and when I manually install it and choose to select from a list and choose AMD driver, it also fails.

Re-downloading the older versions didn't work. I tried to install 3 older versions, each older than the next. Each time I tried to install it it said there was an error on each one. To make it clear, I did uninstall the few folders and software that did get installed before the errors every time I tried to install a new one. Im completely lost.

Can't Install AMD Video Driver

My adapter is listed as Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. It should be An AMD driver. Now I've just continuously uninstalled and re-installed. Every installation goes half-way before saying it failed due to an I/O error. WTF is going on?

If you deleted folders before you uninstalled, then the uninstallation is invalid and incomplete.

only SAFEMODE will remove those files..

The registry however is another story, but that should resolve itself once you have the right drivers installed..
